Believing in the goodness of God does not mean that life is always easy and a bed of roses. It doesn’t mean that my life is without trials and that I don’t sometimes question why. This song has helped me through those times. There have been times when I have prayed these things:
Lord, my life is on the line! Where are you?
The song answers with my life laid down.
Lord, I have already given up so much! Must I give up more? The song answers I give you everything.
Lord, I thought I already surrendered this. The song answers I’m surrendered now, not just last week.
Lord, I’m in the fire! I’m in the midst of the darkest night of my life. The song answers that God is right there with me like no other!
Lord, I’m fatherless, friendless, and feel so alone! The song answers that He is my father and friend.
Lord, I thought you were good? Where is your goodness now? The song answers it’s running after me!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23:6
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
‘Cause Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
If you want to listen to a version that will give you chills, check out the short clip I made (from a much longer service). It was sung by a fifteen year old girl at my church’s youth camp last year. The full official lyric video is also linked below.
