Music Monday– No Longer Slaves

Fear is a four letter word. What have I to fear when I’m a child of God? What does an earthly prince or princess fear when they are the child of the king and surrounded by the best security to be found?

This artist really has a way with imagery of the burdens that sin and our sin-cursed world put on us. We can be slaves and chain-bound to many things. Fear is one of the worst of them.

I don’t mean the fear that says don’t jump off a mountain. I mean the fear that says you can’t testify about God because people might judge you or maybe you’ll be proved wrong. I mean the fear that says don’t pay tithes or give as God has laid on your heart because what if an emergency arises and you need that money later? Don’t worship God too loudly, people will think you’re crazy. Being a child of God frees you from all these cares!

What could be further from being a slave, who works for free and is bound for their lifetime? Being the master’s child! We are God’s children and we are now free!

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

John 8:36

I’m no longer a slave to fear
Oh, I am a child of God
Oh, I’m no longer a slave to fear
Oh, I am a child of God
