The rediscovery of Hardian’s Villa began in the 15th century, but this mosaic wasn’t found until 1736. It is made of only colored marble and no glass, unlike most other mosaics. Some think the one that was found is actually a copy and not the original. Regardless, it is so well done! You have to really zoom in to see that it is a mosaic.
From Hadrian’s Villa – interesting!
