Where’s your happy place? If you closed your eyes and recalled your happiest memory or a location that is most soothing, what is it?
For me, my memory is dotted with laughter with loved ones. But when I’m anxious, I think about the calming, blue waters of Kluane Lake in Yukon, Canada. I drove past it a few times while driving to and from Alaska (yes, I did that more than once). The next time I insist on staying and enjoying it longer!
Wow, do I have to pick just one? 🙂 Immediately, the farm I grew up on came to mind…the pasture that was dotted with buttercups and next to the hill down the lane from the gravel pit, or the hay loft, or along the banks of the little creek near where we picked chokecherries. But then, I also love sitting out by the ocean and listening to the gulls and the water. However, if it is cold or wet out, then I long to be curled up in a comfy chair with a nice blanket.

I’m seeing a common theme of nature and solitude here! Introverts unite…separately! Sounds like the perfect way to restore your calm!

I don’t know that I have a “Happy Place”. There are many places I think of as beautiful and the shore, (when I was able to sit in the sun) was always calming. I now enjoy watching my grandchildren and I truly enjoy just sitting in a comfortable chair while reading a good book. I grew up in the country so there were many lovely spots we would walk to on a Sunday afternoon as Sunday was truly a “day of rest”. Walks through a meadow, along a creek, or even through the woods, of which there were several to chose from were favorite times.
