My son is in summer camp and my daughter has started pre-school. That means I have the days to do work and the evenings to myself. Of course, that means more time for reading, but there are times when that feels close to work related. Many, many years ago, I used to play the piano as a hobby. So, the other day I picked up a cheap keyboard and I’ve been enjoying playing again!
I don’t play particularly well. I taught myself. At one time, I was quite dedicated to practicing but had no instruction so I could only get so far. I practiced for self-satisfaction though. Now, I am not so interested in learning new skills. I’m also excited to teach my kids some basics before they begin formal lessons later.
I’m pleased to see (hear?) that I haven’t lost my skills. I’ve still got a very liberal understanding of tempo, but I can sight read well still, so that’s good to know! Also, have you heard the line, “Mama sang tenor, Daddy sang bass?” Yeah…well…it happened to me. I’ve lost some of my higher register for singing but can get lower than I have before.
Now, I just want to get some sheet music to songs played in Jane Austen adaptations.
What are your hobbies?

Besides reading and posting reviews, my hobby in my retirement is making Polish Star ornaments – it has 96 points and you can look it up on the Internet. I also so needlework.
